Cherry Class from Kenton Primary School and Class 2 from Kenn Primary School had a wonderful day together finding out more about this term’s art topic. In class we have been learning about portraits, using pencils and crayons to sketch carefully what we can see.
We were lucky enough to be invited to Powderham castle to find out more about the many portraits there. The children saw many different types of portrait, found out the history behind the people featured and thought about the dress and background in each. We also had the opportunity to find out more about the castle, from sliding mirrors, the beautiful domed ceiling in the music room and secret doors, a definite favourite!
In the afternoon, we spent some time finding out about each other and then worked together to draw portraits of each other. It was a lovely day!
