Cherry Class Autumn Update

December 19, 2019Jo Hussain

Kenton Primary School has signed up to reducing our use of single-use plastics. Cherry Class had a Plastic Pirates workshop with Dea from Resource Futures and Chris from the Environment Agency came to tell us how plastics can affect the oceans and wildlife.  We now know some of the things we can do to help…

Forest School – Sept 2019

September 24, 2019Jo Hussain

Welcome back to another new term in the woods and a big hello to my new forest school assistant, Sharon, who will be working with Year 3 & 4 this half term. We have already battled with the elements and relished the opportunity to get wet playing with giants pools of water on our shelter…

September 12, 2019Jo Hussain

Chestnut class have had a day of art with a local willow artist making willow and tissue paper lanterns for a theatre show at Powderham castle.

Forest School – Summer 2019

June 23, 2019Jo Hussain

Forest School has been very busy of late with the children showing amazing creativity in their woodland explorations. We have; made new swings, built more dens, crafted sticky weed crowns, mixed up mud pies, experimented with ropes and pulleys, woven God’s Eyes, cooked bread, sparked little fires, got messy with clay and so much more!…

Forest School – May 2019

May 1, 2019Jo Hussain

At Forest School, Oak Class have made a scarecrow for the village trail. Meet ‘Mr. Twiggy’, born of hazel sticks, pine needles and some unwanted school uniform! We have been playing lots of games, lighting fires and have plans afoot for a day of Capturing the Flag.

Academy Update

April 5, 2019Jo Hussain

Over the last 12 months, it has been fairly quiet on the Academy front. As you may know, the building and school land at Kenton belong to Kenton Church Land Trustee Board, to which rent is paid. The Lease renewal is still in the process of being resolved and final papers to join Teignmouth Learning…

Creating Cards in Cherry Class

April 1, 2019Jo Hussain

Cherry class have been busy creating these beautiful cards this half term. They have used the camera to take pictures of spring flowers, learnt a little of how to load them onto the computer and how to insert them into a document. The children have also learnt how to change the font style, colour and…

Forest School News

March 27, 2019Jo Hussain

Chestnut Class have been enjoying adventurous play and creativity at forest school recently; creating large dens and swings, climbing trees and playing games. Unfortunately our session last week had to be cancelled due to a lack of staff to accompany the group off-site to the woods. We wish Mrs. Daniels a speedy recovery from her…

Willow and Cherry’s Trip to Living Coasts

February 25, 2019Jo Hussain

We had a fab trip to Living Coasts in Torquay. As the children had been learning all about Penguins, it was the perfect place to go and visit. The sky was blue and the penguins were out in all their glory – even the sight of 42 children dressed in green didn’t put them off!…

Forest School

February 25, 2019Jo Hussain

Reception and Year One children enjoyed the marvellous sunshine in the woods this week. We’re hoping that spring has finally sprung – we certainly heard enough bird song to suggest it might be the case! After spending time exploring, climbing, swinging and holding an impromptu mud-based tea party, we all settled down for a snack…
