As part of our class topic on rainforests and plants, Oak class have been on a trip to the Eden Project in Cornwall.
We began our trip by having a workshop called Puzzling Plants. In this, the class got to find out how plants move water from their roots to their leaves – and that a kapok tree can move 5 tonnes of water per day. We also saw a stilt palm, which can ‘walk’ by moving its roots, and others which have unusual roots, like mangrove trees.
To finish off, we got to explore the rainforest biome, which was really hot and humid. A great experience to help our writing too.
