Oak class joined with Year 3/4 from Kenn and went to visit Charmouth beach.
The trip was part of our science topic of Rocks and Fossils and gave the children the opportunity to show our guide, Chris, how much they knew already. They certainly did us proud and could explain all about how fossils formed and the different types.
After explaining what to look for, Chris took everyone along the beach and we all began out hunt for 200 million year old remains.
The children uncovered some superb fossils that even managed to amaze Chris, including dozens of whole ammonites, fossilised wood and two very rare ones: a detailed, fossilised lily and an ichthyosaur vertebrate, both found by the same child!
