Newsletter 28th November 2025

November 28, 2025ed.finch@kentonschool.co.uk

Building Update

The building is done!! The school was handed over to us on Monday afternoon and by the end of the day we had moved the food service out of Willow Class – no more mornings interrupted by the dinner trolley rolling through the classroom! On Tuesday after school a brilliant team of parents, pupils and staff moved the library over too and now Willow Class is properly a place for our children to play and learn. We’ll be improving it in lots of ways over the next few weeks.

Forest School

We love the experience’s that Gin offers the children at Forest School. Rachel Jacob’s took these pictures today to share with us all – just beautiful.

Biscuit Questionnaire

For some reason I haven’t yet divined – almost certainly an issue on my part – we had no responses at all on last week’s biscuit questionnaire. Never ind – let’s have a rollover week and pick two winners this week. This week it’s just a fun question but do fill it in – it’s good view for me into how many people actually get this far down the newsletter. Click this link to take part.

Reverse Advent Calendar

I’ve always felt just a tiny bit about the chocolatification of the Advent Calendar. I feel that there needs to be a little more to Christmas than the consumption of sweet treats. For a while now I have turned the tradition around and marked a reverse Advent Calendar. Each day in December in the run up to Christmas I add an item to a box to give to a local foodbank. Monday the first might be a bottle of shampoo, Tuesday the second could be a bag of pasta and so on. I’ll be putting my reverse advent calendar box in the foyer area of the school – at the end of term I will get it to the food bank in Dawlish. I would love to invite any families who would like to join in with the Reverse Advent Calendar to either add to my box in the foyer or to make their own collections at home and bring them into school at the end of term and I will get them to the Food Bank. It may be less exciting than opening a little window to find a square of sugary chocolate but I know it will be well received.

Readathon

have you found time to pay in the money that your child raised through our Readathon? Once we know that everyone has managed to gather and pay in their earnings, our legendary KSPA are going to double the sum for us. Now that our Library is in its new home, we’d love to start spending the money on beautiful books and fill up some of those empty shelves.
