Dear Parents and carers,
It’s been a rainy old week we have still managed to have plenty of fun. Our Readathon has been just lovely – see the pictures below – and today’s Children in Need dress up day has made us smile. Some of the best news has been seeing work on the new hall really looking like it’s coming to completion. Do read on to hear more and, as ever, PLEASE take time to fill out my super quick questionnaire – someone will win those fabled biscuits.
Building Update
The hall has water, electricity, data and alarm systems connected up. I have been inside for a wander around and I can tell you it’s very close to completion. Workers will be in over the weekend to join up the canopy so that the children can walk into it from the classrooms without getting wet.
Next week there is some finishing off to do and tarmac to be added to the paths but we are confident that the hall will be finished on time and that we will be given the keys on the 24th November – just one more week of the little playground!!
Until then please continue to walk onto the school site if at all possible unless dropping off for breakfast club or unless there are specific outstanding circumstances. Our neighbours would be very grateful if you could avoid blocking up their driveways. We often think that it will only take us a minute or two to drop off our child but it almost always ends up taking more and if you find you can’t get out of your property then it really is most inconvenient and feels like disrespect.
Readathon
Children have been spending lots of time reading this week – hopefully they have sponsors signed up and will start bringing the funds in so we can order lots and lots of lovely books for the library! It has been lovely seeing children around the school really getting stuck into their books – even on the playground.

Remembrance Day
A group of children from Key Stage two went to the War Memorial in the village to join the Reverend Julia to mark the two minute silence. They placed a wreath made up from poppies created by every member of the school community. The vicar said, ‘May I take the chance to compliment the Yr 5 and 6s and added yr 4s. They did so well with the whole thing. They stood nicely throughout, kept the 2 min silence beautifully, and read the various parts of an act of remembrance very well. I was most impressed with them.’ The rest of the children took part in a special assembly back at school to learn about remembrance and to hold the two minute silence together.

Children in Need
Congratulations and thanks to everyone who worked together to help us raise money for Children in Need. Right now, the total stands at a little shy of one hundred pounds but I’m sure that will soar up at the end of the school day – especially due to the Cake Sale after school. The children very much enjoyed wearing colourful and spotty clothes and there were big smiles all around.
Biscuit Questionnaire
Please do fill this out. Just click the link to open the questionnaire. I would love to see the same number as respondents as the number of families represented in the school – or more as you are very welcome to share with anyone who platys a part in caring for your child.
This week I’ve asked a couple of questions about Workshop Sessions. Are they of interest? What would you like a session on|? When should it be?
Lovely learning
Often when I share pictures of the children’s learning, I tend to share pictures of the artefacts – pictures that they have drawn, pages of writing and so on. Today I thought it would be lovely just to show them hard at work. This is what learning looks like!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone – I hope you get out when there’s a break in the weather!
